Na Hale Kumu (NHK)
Okland Construction is in the finishing stages of demolition on the Na Hale Kumu Townhouses (NHK). The construction site is an active site with construction vehicles coming and going from the site throughout the day. The main access to the site for construction vehicles is the access road between NHK and the Temple View Apartments (TVA). For your safety, it is requested that pedestrians stay off the access road between NHK and TVA. Pedestrians can gain access to Naniloa Loop through the parking lot marked “TVA” on the diagram above.

Cafeteria
Jacobsen Construction is currently preparing the above sites for demolition and construction of the new cafeteria. During this process, the safety of students/faculty is top priority. Please be aware, the area of these sites is temporary. As the process of construction continues, the size of the construction sites will expand in area for the safety of students/faculty. Currently, Jacobsen Construction is in the process of installing a new walkway for students/faculty use. We ask that students/faculty use this new walkway once completed.

CAFETERIA PROJECT

Design is nearing completion on the new Cafeteria Project. Phased demolition will begin this fall to prepare for new construction to begin in early 2019. The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2021.

Jacobson Construction has been busy installing a new sidewalk for pedestrian traffic from Old Gym to Hale 1. (See picture above and below) Once construction begins on the Cafeteria there will be no pedestrian traffic along the Big Circle by the construction site, it will all flow along the tennis courts.

New pedestrian path

Jacobson has set up their construction control area (above) and site area (below). Some fences have been installed and more fences are coming in order to protect our campus Ohana.

SCIENCE & MATH BUILDING

The General Classroom Building (GCB) will be demolished at the end of the year. A new Science and Math Building will be constructed in its place. Construction will start the beginning of 2019.

New crosswalk by GCB and Hale 2 for your convenience and safety.

Okland Construction has informed us that no pedestrians should walk along the new fencing at GCB for safety reasons. During the demolition and construction process large equipment will be operating nearby. Crosswalks have been painted at both ends of the GCB construction site.

For safety reasons all pedestrian traffic will be on the opposite side of GCB construction area. Please watch out for traffic and equipment coming onto campus during this large scale construction phase.

IMPORTANT: The NHK construction site is an active Okland project. Any/all access requires coordination with Okland prior to entering the site.

PORTABLE BUILDINGS

Three portable buildings have arrived on campus. Two are for computer labs and one is for the math lab. These buildings will be ready for Winter Semester once the GCB (General Classroom Building) is removed, and will be used until the new Science & Math Building is complete.
